I’m Heather Silsbee, a writer, editor, and person trying her best in Southwest Minneapolis. I’ve written and edited content for both consumers and professional audiences about mental health, addiction, medicine, LGBTQ+ issues, games, and progressive politics. You may also know me from my larp about rocks, Still Life, or my other work on tabletop and live action roleplaying games with Glass-Free Games*.

When not working with content, I enjoy reading mystery novels, listening to podcasts, knitting, petting my cat (Penny), playing co-op board games with my partner (Sara), and drinking coffee. Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, I also like to stay home and wear a mask.
Southwest Progressives Newsletter
I decided to start the Southwest Progressives Newsletter in late 2021 after getting connected with dozens of passionate Southwest Minneapolis progressives while working as the communications director for Mike Norton’s campaign for Ward 13 city council.
Southwest Minneapolis has (understandably) earned the reputation of being so solidly conservative by Minneapolis standards that any investment in progressive politics or social change is a waste of resources. But now, those of us who want to change that have found each other and are ready to work.
Through the newsletter, I hope to help keep everyone informed about what other awesome people and organizations are up to, and what we all can do to get more involved in making Minneapolis work better for everyone—especially our most marginalized neighbors.
